“Plombières Les Bains”
Invitation to a journey in the southernmost spa resort of the Vosges.
In the southern part of the Vosges, Plombières benefits from a pleasant environment open to walks in the heart of green resorts.
Girmont -le Val- d’Ajol is the perfect example of a peaceful and pastoral village in the midst of a preserved nature.In the Summer,every Friday there is a night market fragrant with local products.
Le Val d’Ajol stretches in the valley of La Combeauté, a paradise for walkers, anglers, and gourmets with its Foire aux Andouilles (chitterlings), on the third Monday of February.
Plombières-les Bains has earned a vast reputation thanks to its medicinal water sources for the treatment of rheumatim and digestive system diseases.
The Romans built baths there. From that time onwards, many famous people such as Montaigne,or Joséphine de Beauharnais have come here to treat their diseases. But new life was breathed into the spa thanks to Napoleon III. In a unique setting in France, the Roman balneo centre offers the sweetness of its warm waters propitious to relaxation all year round.
The terraced gardens , a real balcony over the town also offer a tree- climbing track for young and old. In the spa gardens, an ideal place for leisure or for walking, you can stroll along the paths, try to play mini-golf and visit the Parc Miniature, an indispensable site displaying ancient and new monuments of Le Grand Est in miniature.Plombières is also the village of antique shops , second hand dealers , arts and crafts : a unique , out of time trip with artists- painters , sculptors, stained-glass artists, glassmakers using blowtorches, potters, cutlers…
Plombières ice -cream is part of the renowned gastronomic specialties of the resort.
