Founded during the first millenium on a peaceful river called the Madon, this town joined the Duchy of Lorraine in 1284 in which remained until 1766, when the Duchy was until with France.
In the hands of the Dukes of Lorraine, Mirecourt went through a prosperous period, developing the industries and crafts recognized today : Lace – mechanical instruments and being also the capital of Violin making.

Lace
Exhibition called “lace, between conservation and transmission”
Based on the presentation of mats, upholstery and pieces of clothing, visitors are aware of the difficulty of maintaining this fragile textile heritage: how to prevent it from deteriorating?
They discover and then experiment with this ancestral knowledge with a touch made when materials are presented, and point tools.
The pieces presented are kindly provided by the association “Revival and promotion of lace in Mirecourt.”
